Intermediate Tennis Boys are State Semi-finalists
21/05/2025SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – STATE FINALS
Intermediate Boys Tennis
Congratulations to our Intermediate Boys Tennis Team that competed at the SSV State Tennis Finals on Friday 16 May at the Glen Waverley Sports Hub. In perfect conditions, the boys played exceptionally well, only to be knocked out in the semi-finals by a very talented team from Maribyrnong Sports Academy.
Playing their pool rounds first, the CMCB team came up against a very competitive team from Horsham Secondary College in round 1. The boys showed plenty of determination in this round as they started their campaign in style, winning 5 sets to 1.
Game 2 was against a very skilled team from Greensborough College. These matches were well contested, and the quality of tennis was impressive. The boys may have lost 4 sets to 2, however all games were tight with some brilliant stroke play on display. The 3rd and final pool match was against Notre Dame College, Shepparton. This was a great round, and games were played in great spirits. The boys dominated all matches to win 6 sets to 0, which secured them a spot in the semi-finals.
The semi-final was against the top team from Pool A – Maribyrnong Sports Academy. This was a tough match across all games. Despite the CMCB boys putting up a great fight as they challenged their more fancied opponents early on in the singles, Maribyrnong were able to win key points when it mattered the most. The CMCB team once again took it up to Maribyrnong in the doubles, but the class and depth of experience that Maribyrnong had was the difference in the end as they went on the defeat a gallant CMCB 6 sets to 0.
The boys’ all-round performance, however, was fantastic as they proved that they could really compete with the best the State has to offer. All team members should be very proud of their efforts and results.
Congratulations boys – State Semi-finalists is an incredible achievement.
