Faith & Mission: Masses & Fundraising

11/02/2019

Opening Mass

The Opening Mass is a very special occasion at the beginning of the year where we celebrate and ask God’s blessing on the school year and our community. Mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Cathedral at 10.00am on Tuesday 19 February. Please be seated by 9.45 am for the Year 7 and Year 12 procession. Family and friends of our College are most welcome to attend.

Project Compassion

The theme for Project Compassion 2019 is based around HOPE and giving Lent 100% in the name of hope. Hope is one of the three pillars of Christian virtue. The other two being faith and charity. It is a powerful force for good and helps to transform lives. To support Project Compassion there will be Project Compassion boxes throughout the school for any donations. As well as donation boxes there will also be posters demonstrating the projects donations can support.

Caritas Ks Sponsor Books will be distributed to Coolock students shortly. They will include a ‘5 global facts page’ and contain 5 receipts. Students are encouraged to “tell 5 people 5 facts perhaps for a fiver!” That’s little more than a cup of coffee – the average cost of a take-away latte in Victoria is now $4!

This year’s Project Compassion showcases the many ways we work around the world with our local partners to offer hope to people most vulnerable to extreme poverty and injustice. Click to read more about Project Compassion.

As Pope Francis said, “The future does have a name… and its name is hope.”

Through your generosity during Project Compassion this year, you are empowering communities with hope and helping those in great need to shape a better future for themselves, their families and their communities.

Lives change when we all give 100%.

The Caritas Ks walk and carnival at Coolock is on the final day of Term 1, on Friday 5 April.
