Business Management Unit 2 Excursion

Marketing in Action

On Wednesday 15 August VCE Business Management Unit 2 students attended the Bendigo Marketplace to learn about the marketing and promotion of the centre. Marketing Manager, Dannielle Downs, talked to the students about her journey from school to marketing and her role at the shopping centre. She also prepared a very informative presentation about a recent ‘$2 Eats’ campaign run by the centre. Bendigo Marketplace treated the students to complimentary hot chocolate, coffee or juice and Dannielle then conducted a tour of the centre, highlighting additional marketing initiatives. The information provided by Dannielle was a perfect fit with the marketing unit currently being studied and we greatly appreciate Dannielle’s efforts in sharing such valuable information and assisting our student’s learning. Thank you also to Centre Management for supporting our community.

Following the walk back to school, students were then fortunate to have Evonne Oxenham, Marketing Manager of Bendigo Heritage Attractions join us to discuss her role in marketing the Central Deborah Gold Mine, the Bendigo Talking Trams and the Joss House Temple. Evonne shared marketing campaigns, including video advertisements, fundraising campaigns and details of the various promotional campaigns. Again, this presentation was a fantastic example of marketing theory in practice and we thank Evonne for taking time out of her busy schedule to share her knowledge with our students.

The excursion was a collaborative effort with Catherine McAuley College and Wedderburn Secondary College, through teacher, Allison Atkins. We were pleased to welcome three students from Wedderburn and one student from East Loddon College to join us for the event.
