Progress has been outstanding despite the rain and challenges with materials in the market over the past months We have reached an exciting stage of construction, with individual spaces now taking shape. Roofing works over the junior social area has commenced and structural steel work for the cricket amenities space will commence next week, followed by wall cladding in the gymnasium. In the gym, services rough-in and ceiling lining has already commenced. The Stage 2 oval cut-and-fill works are also progressing well.

Coolock Top Oval

As reported earlier in the term, the top oval refurbishment is complete. However, due to considerable rainfall throughout the term, the oval has been used in a limited capacity. At this stage access has been limited to Physical Education classes on the east side of the oval. We continue to monitor the condition and will open it up for further use once conditions are suitable.

St Mary’s (Wright Street) Gates

New gates at both Barkly St and Valentine St (top and bottom of Wright St) are now in place. They enhance these entries to St Mary’s, having been designed in keeping with the architectural style of the nearby buildings. The installation of the gates was a recommendation to improve safety. Currently the gates are opened and closed manually, however electronic mechanisms will be installed during the term break.
