Sport at Catherine McAuley College enables students to develop physical and social skills, encouraging participation, confidence and success. Students are empowered through their participation in sport and representing their College, displaying a strong sense of College spirit.
The house system creates a sense of competitiveness and pride for students when representing their House and participating in athletics, swimming and other House based sporting events.
The College offers a broad range of individual and team sports, represented at local, state and national levels. The College has long been the envy of other competitors with exceptional results each year. In 2016 the College was the most successful regional school in Victoria winning the most individual and state championships.
The College is an outstanding regional school for state titles and finalists.
Catherine McAuley College is associated with School Sport Victoria. This association has three different levels of competition, which starts at local level. If a team (or individual) wins at this level, they then proceed to the regional level, and then, state. Our College competes in the following sports:
- Lawn Bowls
- Cross Country
- Table Tennis
- Football (AFL)
We also compete in the following school sporting competitions that fall outside of the School Sport Victoria banner:
- Victorian Schools Netball Championships
- Human Powered Vehicles and Energy Breakthrough
Catherine McAuley College also enters teams in human vehicle races throughout the year, all of which are preparation for the RACV Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough. Our students build their own vehicles, train weekly, and build camaraderie as a team.
In 2017, it will be the eleventh consecutive year our College has had students racing.
