Bishop Joe Grech Youth Scholarship

26/06/2018

Congratulations to three CMC students, Kaitlyn Smith, Charlotte Brook and Gemma Ritchie who were announced today as recipients of the prestigious Bishop Joe Grech Youth Scholarship, along with students from other schools in the Sandhurst Diocese. The students were recognised and acknowledged for their outstanding qualities with this award.

Together with other outstanding young people from across the Sandhurst Diocese they attended the Bishop Joe Grech Youth Scholarship luncheon at the Catholic Education Office in Bendigo on Friday 22 June.

Named in honour of former Bishop of Sandhurst, Bishop Joe Grech, the scholarship recognises senior students who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, and a strong commitment to faith and social justice.

The Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, Mr Paul Desmond, said the Scholarship honours the memory of Bishop Joe.

“The Bishop Joe Scholarship enables Catholic Education Sandhurst to continue his legacy to the young people of the Sandhurst Diocese and gives recipients the opportunity to flourish as leaders within their schools, and in the wider community.”

The scholarship enables senior students in Sandhurst Secondary Colleges to participate in spirituality or leadership programs beyond their schools, promoting young people as significant members of the church. The recipients of the award are nominated from within their own school community.
